Your pet will be reliable and patient, meaning they’ll be great with children and other animals. They’re extremely affectionate and always there for the people they love but this can sometimes make them a little possessive. Their interests often include playing in the garden, digging or basically any activity where they can explore in the beautiful outdoors – being involved in physical challenges or having an occupation such as sheep herding is ideal for them.

Gemini

Gemini’s love being sociable with other animals or human companions! They are strong communicators, so expect a lot of barks, meows, hisses and howls – you’ll just have to decipher their meaning. Although they like the company of others your pet can struggle with nerves, so you may need to give them a helping hand in certain social situations when they seem extra reserved.

Influenced by the water element, Cancer’s love relaxing near water and swimming! They are tenacious and persuasive – so even if you say no to extra treats at first, you’re probably going to give in eventually. They’re loyal and show emotions to the ones they love, but dislike strangers, so it can take some time to build a relationship with them. The thing your pet will crave the most is a secure and stable home environment and once your relationship is formed you’ll have a loyal companion for life.

The sassiest of the star signs – Leo’s love to be admired. If they’re not being treated like a king or queen, that’s just not good enough. Think lots of strokes, cuddles and admiration to show them how much you care. If your pet feels unappreciated or unfairly criticised they may become grumpy and depressed, however, if you show them the right amount of attention they are generous, loving pets that are great with children.

Virgo

The most serious of the bunch, Virgo’s take their role as a pet very seriously. They hate change and any upset to their daily routine can make them feel nervous. Your pet would benefit from feedings and walks at the same time every day, along with a clean and orderly environment to help prevent feelings of anxiety. They can be quite shy around new people and animals, but once a bond and routine are formed they are extremely loyal, so you’ll be besties for life.

Libra
September 23 – October 22
Libra’s love a peaceful household where they can surround themselves with other animals and people they love. They are naturally drawn to partnering up, so having another furry friend to play with is ideal. If they are an only pet, they will see you as their partner, giving you undivided loyalty and attention; making them highly trainable!

Scorpio

As a star sign that is very resourceful, they will find fun and create games from everything around them, which can be cute when it doesn’t involve ruining the new furnishings. They love to experience and express emotions, meaning although they can be passionate and assertive they can also become very jealous. As one of the biggest travellers in the Zodiac, Sagittarius pets love to explore new places! These are the perfect furry friends to take travelling or on hikes, offering curiosity and high energy. They value freedom so don’t like people that are too clingy – if your kitty is trying to escape from your cuddling grasp, give them some space – if you fail to do so they are likely to become very impatient.

Capricorn

Capricorn’s are responsible, show great self-control and discipline – which is great for household training and learning tricks. They are natural leaders, so are likely to take control when going for walks and teaching other pets in their family how things work. It is common for Capricorn pets to need more alone time than other signs, sometimes choosing solitude over socialising. If you provide an environment where your pet feels safe and confident, they will return the favour with unrivalled devotion.

Independence is one of your pets most important characteristics, they enjoy showing this through achieving things themselves, not by spending a lot of time alone. Although microchipping is a legal requirement, it is especially important with this sign, as they do enjoy wandering off to explore. Aquariuses love to spend time with both other animals and human companions and once they’ve forged an affectionate bond, they will show you lifelong loyalty.

Pisces
February 19 – March 20
If you’ve ever felt as though your pet is in tune with your emotions, it’s very likely they’re a Pisces. They are extremely compassionate and intuitive, so can read situations well and know when you’re in need of a cuddle. Unfortunately, this emotional nature can lead to your pet feeling sad or depressed, so be sure to monitor when they need some tender loving care or even a trip to the vets.
